Sustainability Facilitator and Instructor of Sustainability

The College of St. Scholastica invites applications for a full-time Sustainability Facilitator and Instructor of Sustainability with a preferred start date of January, 2019. The successful applicant will serve as the lead advocate for sustainability on campus, collaborating with faculty, staff and students to implement curricular and co-curricular initiatives relating to the interconnected threads of social equity, economic, and environmental sustainability utilizing campus, community and regional resources. The ability to contribute to the Sustainability Studies and the Environment undergraduate major is expected. Responsibilities:

  • Be a lead advocate for sustainability on campus.
  • Convene an advisory board for sustainability.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff on implementing curricular and co-curricular activities incorporating sustainability topics.
  • Promote project activities around sustainability to encourage widespread participation by students, faculty, and staff,
  • Arrange training retreats and professional development programs.
  • Facilitate implementation of research, applied projects, and internships.
  • Contribute to the Sustainability Studies and the Environment undergraduate major.
  • Serve as a bridge to community agencies and organizations
  • Collaborate with College Advancement staff to secure additional funding from other sources.

Qualifications:
Required qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Sustainability or related discipline; demonstrated leadership skills; evidence of cultural competence and demonstrated success working with diverse populations; and demonstrated cross-cultural communication skills and multicultural competency. Preferred qualifications include experience implementing sustainability activities; teaching experience at the college level; experience managing grants; and a record of activism with regard to sustainability.
