Position Summary

Organize and implement initiatives to support NYU’s sustainability goals in areas including energy/climate, water, waste, procurement, built environment, food, water, transportation, social/cultural, landscaping, and innovation. Manage and facilitate projects as directed to meet unit goals, targets, and metrics and in accordance with departmental priorities and budgets. Compile data and perform reporting as needed to support project work. Assist with special projects and events. Collaborate constructively with other NYU stakeholders, and communicate clearly about NYU sustainability with members of the NYU community and the public. Work closely with colleagues within Office of Sustainability to ensure success of all unit objectives. Direct student and/or casual employees as required.

Qualifications:

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Education:
Program certificate(s) in a closely related area.

Required Experience:
2+ years’ relevant experience including administering sustainability programs, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience:
Prior experience administering sustainability initiatives in a fast-paced environment balancing many projects with multiple stakeholders.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Confident organizational and project coordination skills including time management. Strong verbal, written, and presentation delivery skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to develop and sustain effective relationships in support of organizational goals. Familiarity with key sustainability issues, areas of focus, terminology, and initiatives. Proficiency with standard office productivity software including basic data analysis.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Demonstrated effective management of student employees. Knowledge of data collection and reporting techniques and strategies, graphic design programs, and/or event management. Deep knowledge of one or more specific areas of focus within sustainability.
