Experience the coast of NC and provide amazing outdoor education experiences for youth. Don Lee Center hosts the Coastal Communities environmental education program focusing on coastal ecology, marine science, and natural history as well as the Common Ground team building program for school groups.

Environmental Educators lead a variety of hands-on programs including Beach Study, Fishing, Coastal Birds, Pirates, Marine Invertebrates, Sailing, and much more. Educators will also lead groups through a team building process focusing on problem solving and experiential learning.

Visiting school groups will participate in a one day program, or a multiple day/overnight option. Instructors work with the groups for day and evening programs, but are not required to stay in cabins with kids. It is a five day work week, with two days off per week.

Qualifications: Degree in biology or education related field; however we do offer internships for those whose education is in progress or those without degrees but prior experience in the field. Experience working with youth in outdoor setting is preferred. Good organizational, interpersonal, and facilitation skills, as well as willingness to work long hours with youth, enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self discipline are a must. Looking for a ‘team player’ to reside in a cooperative living/work environment.

Start date: Position begins February 11, 2019 and is contracted through May 24, 2018.

Salary: Starting Salary of $275 per week; Room and Board provided; Meals provided seven days a week; Workman’s Compensation.
