Environmental Specialist III:  The Petroleum Contamination Cleanup Site Manager performs project management activities required to return petroleum contaminated sites to acceptable soil and groundwater target levels for Sarasota County’s local Petroleum Restoration Program. Duties include: Performing technical reviews of reports, plans, and proposals; coordinating reviews with technical staff; issuing written comments for corrections, improvements or additional work; approving reports in accordance with state rules and guidance; conducting quality assurance field audits of contractors at contaminated sites; performing contract management of state funded sites; negotiating and developing scopes of work, change orders, and processing purchase orders and invoices in the state’s contacting system MFMP.

Minimum Qualifications:  A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the biological or physical sciences, Environmental Engineering or a related field and three (3) years of professional experience.  A Master’s Degree may substitute for one year of professional experience.  Progressively responsible professional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required college degree.

Salary:  The salary range for this position is: $48,068 – $56,000; salary may be negotiable DOE.
