Position Description
Tacoma 2025 was adopted in March of 2015. The plan sets forth an ambitious vision for the city of Tacoma through successful achievement of five goals in the areas of Livability, Economy and Workforce, Civic Engagement, Equity and Accessibility, and Education. The Tacoma 2025 document lays out a vision of Tacoma created through partnership between city government, institutions, residents and other community partners. Under limited supervision of the Media & Communications Director, the Tacoma 2025 Strategic Manager (MA III) position share lead responsibility for implementing the Citywide Strategic Planning and Visioning, Tacoma 2025. This position will have primary responsibility for community engagement relating to 2025 and will also provide:
- advanced professional analysis, research, and data collection
- process development, and training
- implementation strategy and oversight,
- Tacoma 2025 stakeholder engagement,
- performance reporting,
- strategic budget alignment
This position will work with managers, supervisors, senior executives, and departments within the City responsible for operations and implementation of the plan. This position will provide ongoing support for the 2025 Advisory Committee, community partners, and residents related to Tacoma 2025.
In addition to the Tacoma 2025 assignment, this position will be assigned complex projects and programs as needed at the Media & Communications Director’s discretion and provide analysis, research, data collection, performance reporting, and process development for implementation.

Qualifications
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS (TRAINING AND EDUCATION):
Master’s degree preferred, bachelor’s degree required, plus 5 years’ experience in planning and community development, project implementation; strategic planning and visionary implementation; complex community and stakeholder engagement projects; conducting research and analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations, conducting financial auditing and management studies, managing and overseeing programs, specialized or technical work processes, standards, regulations and systems.
