Chehalis Basin Education Consortium Internship Winter 2019
Internship available at Capital Region ESD113 office in Tumwater, Washington.
Intern will be working with a Regional Science Coordinator to implement watershed and climate change related environmental education activities for students in grades 4-12. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Classroom presentations
- Developing curriculum
- Leading environmental education activities
- Helping with planning and implementing restoration events
- Performing water quality testing with students
- Working with juveniles in the Lewis County Juvenile Court System both in a detention facility and out on a work crew
- Training teachers
- Social media and outreach including picture taking and writing publicity materials
Number of hours per week desired: 20 but that is flexible. Position is unpaid. Travel to offsite locations will be reimbursed.
Desired candidates can be either undergraduate or masters students, and must have a background/experience in environmental education, preferably related to water quality, habitat restoration, botany and/or climate change. Must be comfortable working in a detention center with adjudicated youth.
