McCormick Taylor is seeking an Environmental Inspector to join our growing Energy/Utilities group. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative team environment and be self-motivating and capable of working independently. This position will consist primarily of field work in West Virginia with potential for work in Virginia as well. Because of this, we are open to candidates located in a number of different geographic areas. Previous experience collaborating with team members via electronic and web based meeting platforms is preferred.

 

Responsibilities

The position will include conducting environmental compliance inspections and completing daily inspection reports on active construction projects in the energy infrastructure industry occurring largely throughout the state of WV, with potential for work in surrounding states. The position will also include attending project kick-off meetings and providing training in environmental awareness and project-specific environmental requirements to project staff and contractors. The position will involve daily travel to project sites and will require the candidate to possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. The position will involve working outdoors year-round, often in remote locations and inclement weather. The ideal candidate should have strong written communication skills.

 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field is preferred.

2-5 years of professional experience

Valid driver’s license

Detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices and environmental Best Management Practices

Familiarity with and experience on FERC regulated projects and natural gas pipeline projects is preferred.

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Detail oriented with the ability to successfully multi-task
