The School of Marine Science & Policy is seeking applicants for fellowships for M.S. and Ph.D. candidates in Marine Policy. These are competitive fellowships and provide a stipend for up to two
years of funding with an opportunity for continuation thereafter. Students typically receive funding during their entire time at UD.

The fellowships support students interested in policy analysis related to coastal and ocean resource use. Areas of interest include: fisheries management, maritime transport, offshore wind power, beach management, climate change, international treaties and law governing the high seas, and many other areas related to coastal and ocean resources.

Students in the Marine Policy program will design a curriculum centered around courses in law, decision analysis, economics and marine sciences, and will work with their faculty adviser to develop their area of specialization. Individuals with experience in social, natural or physical science are encouraged to apply. A background in social science with quantitative training is useful, but not required.

Students from the program typically go on to jobs at federal, state, and local agencies, environmental consulting firms, non-governmental groups and in academia.

Delaware is a great place to live, whether your base is in Newark, where UD’s main campus is located, or in the seaside town of Lewes. Newark is roughly halfway between New York City and Washington, DC, near Interstate 95. Lewes is 90 miles southeast of Newark at the mouth of the Delaware Bay. Students accepted into the program are typically located on the main campus, but
also have the option of locating at the Lewes campus.
