ARC, in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, is looking to hire part-time Park Concierges to provide friendly and knowledgeable information to the public and provide peak and non-peak-hour support in various Seattle Parks. Park Concierges will ensure parks are active, welcoming and safe public spaces for all users.

Location: Multiple – Central Seattle

(Victor Steinbrueck Park, Hing Hay Park, Pioneer Square Park)

Schedule: Part time – 3-4 days per week Sun-Sat, 10am-5pm

Pay range: $17.50/hour, $50 cell phone stipend available. This is a part-time, non-benefitted postion.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up bistro tables and chairs, umbrellas, pop-up tents and activities
  • Manage book and game carts
  • Assist with program and event management
  • Pick-up litter and maintain park cleanliness
  • Reporting maintenance and equipment issues
  • Managing and setting up sound systems for performers
  • Interact with park patrons, conducting surveys as requested
  • Act as an information guide, answering questions about city destinations and events
  • Act as on-site parks public relations representative for the Seattle Parks and Recreation Department and neighborhood groups
  • Help problem solve as community needs arise
  • Communicate park needs and damaged equipment to supervisor
  • Help with directions and other questions as needed
  • Coordinate with Park Rangers and SPD to report any illegal activity
  • Provide counts of how many people are using the park at different times throughout the day
  • Oversee set-up and breakdown of any events or activations, including staging, tents, signage and audio/video
  • Track number of attendees, on-site media, any sponsor and talent feedback, and take photos of events
  • Ensure event areas are clean and free of debris prior to scheduled event/activation and before departing the Park
  • Locate and remove graffiti from tables, chairs and other amenities. Track and report graffiti on buildings, sidewalks, and street fixtures and ensure it’s reported for removal
  • Communicate with coworkers and supervisors to report issues, cleanups and facility problems
  • Willing to perform manual labor for set-up and take down (sweeping/cleaning up, taking garbage to dumpster, etc)

Job Location and Conditions:

  • Must be willing to work out side early morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays year-round
  • Operate equipment safely and in accordance with training, wears appropriate personal protective equipment, and reports any unsafe work conditions or practices to supervisor
  • May be required to report to work to serve customers during emergency conditions
  • May be assigned to work at one or more parks

Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and with children, families, staff, and community partners and contacts
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older
  • Previous event and or customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Must have access to reliable transportation
  • Perform other duties of a comparable level/type as assigned
  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid photo ID
  • Documentation of current Red Cross First-Aid/CPR certification preferred

Physical Demands (essential functions):

  • Ability to frequently converse with individuals and in large group settings
  • Ability to continuously move and position self to successfully carry out assigned duties
  • Ability to remain in stationary position for extended periods of time
  • Ability to constantly observe groups of children, and assess safety and security procedures
  • Ability to occasionally move or transport weight up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent moderate physically demanding activities in an outdoor setting required, including traversing 3-5 miles between locations
