Perform complex technical duties to support Public Works and geographic information systems (GIS) departments. Create, maintain, and manage digital inventory of public and private assets in GIS and City’s enterprise asset management system with a focus on the City’s transportation, grounds and facility assets. Create, maintain and manage GIS maps, layers, geodatabases and other related records. Provide a high level of customer service and GIS support to internal and external customers. Conduct field visits for asset collection and to ensure data accuracy. Act as a bridge between various divisions and departments such as engineering/design, utility billing, operations and maintenance, construction services, and Community & Economic Development.
Qualifications
- Two (2) years of related experience in reading and understanding engineering (design/construction) plans as well as working with transportation related GIS data inventory/creation and data analysis.
- Equivalent to an Associate’s Degree from an accredited college with major course work in GIS, civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency using Environmental Sciences Research Institute (ESRI) products i.e. ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap 9.x or greater), and ArcSDE including editing spatial data using these tools.
- AutoCAD Map 3D is preferred.
- Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license required.
- GIS / ESRI Certification preferred.
