Growing Community Through Stewardship

Tilth Alliance’s Soil and Water Stewardship program expands to a year-long, comprehensive training

There is an undeniable truth in the power of food to unite. As long as people have been coming together to break bread and share greens,  communities have been connecting over the shared bounty of a harvest. Tilth Alliance is sending a call out for all those with the passion to unite our communities through food to join our Soil and Water Stewardship volunteer training program.

Now entering its third year, the Soil and Water Stewardship program is expanding to offer a nine month training and volunteer opportunity in 2019.

Participants throughout King County will meet one weekend per month, February through October, to learn about environmental stewardship and food production and then apply what they learn in their communities.  Training topics include soil health, water quality, water conservation, sustainable gardening, environmental and food justice, food waste prevention, and more.

Each monthly training will include one day of instruction and hands-on learning, followed by a volunteer day to apply what is learned through community projects with partner organizations throughout King County. Projects may include building new garden beds, installing a cistern or rain garden or creating habitat for wildlife and pollinators.

Discover a meaningful way to connect with your neighbors and build community resilience from the ground up.  Learn more by visiting the Tilth Alliance website.
