Description

  1. Manage public outreach through four (4) ‘Pub Talks’. This effort is funded by the Community Foundation of South Puget Sound and has funding for staff etc.  The ‘Pub Talks’ are to be held in various locations in the basin, and each will have an introduction from a specialist on a topic of local interest that leads to open discussion.  [The goal is to expand name recognition for the Land Trust, and for the Trust to hear from the local residents.]
  2. Take a major role in managing on-going or new acquisitions of properties and easements. Use the ‘acquisition process’ and forms, constant discussions and support with the Supervisor, and background learning provided by the national Land Trust Alliance.  [The goal is to bring a project to completion, ready for Board approval, and also have the property owner(s) or project funders happy with the outcome.]
  3. Support the Board members in managing the annual membership meeting (March 22nd evening meeting). Assist with program materials or speaker(s) and manage other logistics.  [The goal is to encourage friendships that support the organization while expanding knowledge of the basin features and challenges]
  4. Support CRBLT stewardship of lands through participation in site reviews. Learn how we use GPS, county assessor data, and photography to document findings and create baseline or annual data to support legal protection of the sites.
  5. Develop volunteer opportunities for stewardship of protected lands such as invasive weed removal, restoration planting, etc. Use social media and other communication techniques to bring diverse public together for these events and expand CRBLT membership.  Manage the event(s) with experienced CRBLT volunteers to a successful conclusion [considering sharing of knowledge, waivers, safety, supplies and disposal of materials].  [The goal is to steward our lands and easements while offering the public a opportunity for community actions that may also lead to membership]
