We are a fast-moving team that manages the enterprise-level GIS platform, applications, databases, and services for Weyerhaeuser. GIS is critical to the daily operations on Weyerhaeuser’s 13 million acres of timberlands. We are currently consolidating our GIS environments, moving to the cloud, and transforming access to the company’s GIS assets using web and mobile solutions.

In this role, you will work with other members of the GIS Services and IT team to manage our enterprise ESRI/ArcGIS based spatial data assets and tools. You will collaborate with business customers throughout Weyerhaeuser Timberlands, Real Estate, Energy & Natural Resources, Legal, and Acquisition and Divestiture to deliver GIS data management, analytic, and cartographic services. You will contribute tactical ideas to help improve existing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete entry-level GIS tasks, perform basic analysis, problem-solving, implementation, and documentation under general guidance
  • Perform a variety of basic GIS tasks, including data creation and loading, data maintenance, data distribution, ad-hoc analysis, basic cartographic services, and user support
  • Responsible for conducting QA/QC procedures, monitoring data and system health, and coordinating with appropriate personnel to resolve issues
  • Support Weyerhaeuser’s WebGIS environment in ArcGIS Online through the creation and maintenance of web maps and web apps
  • Support Weyerhaeuser’s mobile GIS environment

 

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience is required
  • Zero (0) to two (2) years of progressive, relevant information technology experience
  • Able to use knowledge of the Weyerhaeuser business processes to help make appropriate decisions
  • Possess high attention to detail, ensuring that data quality and information is consistently maintained.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate excellent collaboration skills while working together with others across GIS, business, and IT groups.
  • Willing to share ideas and issues with teammates and manager, and encourages others to share their ideas
  • This position requires occasional travel up to 10%.

Technical Qualifications

  • Possess entry-level GIS technical knowledge and skills, including geodatabase design, spatial relationships, scripting, and cartography
  • Developing broader GIS and IT skills
  • Familiarity with the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Online
  • Hands-on experience with GIS data, GIS data processing, and scripting

Highly Valued

  • Familiarity with forestry and land title concepts and datasets
  • Experience with ESRI enterprise geodatabases
  • Familiarity with writing T-SQL statements to query and analyze data
  • Experience managing small projects
  • Experience with collaboration tools (especially MS-SharePoint and MS-Teams) and data visualization tools (especially MS-PowerBI)
