Mercer Slough Lead Educator

Seeking folks who have a passion for curiosity, and inspiring lifelong stewardship of our natural world!  Do you enjoy teaching innovative and interactive environmental science programs?  Do you see yourself working in a collaborative, dynamic, education team?  Do you enjoy mentoring youth in science education and science careers?  If so, consider joining our Mercer Slough Environmental Education Team!  Located on a 320-acre biologically diverse wetland in Bellevue, WA, Mercer Slough Environmental Education Center is a collaboration between the City of Bellevue and Pacific Science Center.

You will be joining a team of educators and staff who share their passion and knowledge of the natural world with participants in Pre-K –12th grade. You will lead a variety of hands-on place-based environmental education lessons both indoors and outdoors, and mentor youth in our award-winning high school internship program, the Lake Washington Watershed Internship Program.  As an experienced Environmental Educator, you will be able to share your teaching skills and assist in leading professional development opportunities for our field study educator. The programs you teach serve diverse groups of students coming from King County and beyond. Applicants should have experience with field science, outdoor education practices and/or have worked as a formal or informal educator. Applicants should have experience working with or supervising teens from diverse socioeconomic and racial/ethnic backgrounds. Some knowledge of freshwater ecology, restoration ecology or local ecosystems is required. Knowledge of citizen science initiatives, scientific data collection and analysis preferred.
