Job Summary

Researches, develops, plans, implements, and coordinates a successful marketing strategy to promote campus sustainability efforts internally and externally. Benchmarks progress and designs plans for improved marketing of sustainability. Coordinates long-term event strategy and implementation, and leads fund development strategic planning and coordination of development records. Responsible for developing and executing communication and marketing plans across web, print, and social platforms; and partners with cross-campus units to market Sustain IU to campus, system, and state. Facilitates and mentors students in the sustainability internship program and advises sustainability-oriented student organizations.

Note: The selected candidate will have the opportunity to drive sustainability behavior change in the areas of sustainable food and waste reduction.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, environmental or sustainability sciences, education, or related field and three years of experience in event coordination, marketing, or campus sustainability programs, with relevant leadership expertise.

Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.

Experience with behavior change campaigns and theory; and strong understanding of sustainability theory, including issues of environmental integrity, economic vitality and social equity, as well as local, national, and global sustainability initiatives and best practices. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with people at all levels. Strong project management skills and proven ability to learn quickly, work independently, exercise good judgement and initiative, and be creative. Exceptional analytical skills including data analysis and technical writing; and adept at presentations and public speaking. Advanced knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and web content management system (WCMS, Cascade Server or CSS and HTML).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in marketing, communications, event planning, and website design/maintenance. Experience evaluating the success of marketing and behavior change campaigns. Five years of experience in campus sustainability programs or marketing & communications of sustainability programming, with relevant leadership expertise. Experience with coordinating and leading campus sustainability initiatives as well as guiding students.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

This position spends most time indoors and requires extensive sitting, walking and visual work, considerable use of fingers and hands, reaching, talking/listening, standing, squatting/kneeling, and grasping. Occasionally may need the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Salary Grade: 3AD
