Job Description
Job Title: Wildlife Technician
Tribal Department: Natural Resources-Wildlife Program
Job Summary: The Tulalip Tribes announce a wildlife ecology and stream restoration internship opportunity, working as a member of the Tulalip Beaver Project team with Tulalip Tribes Wildlife Program staff from approximately May to November. The selected technician will work on all aspects of the project, including beaver trapping, handling, and release, environmental monitoring, site assessment, and data collection, management, and analysis. Primary duties will consist of handling wild animals and collecting data in remote areas of the Snohomish Watershed in Western Washington and the qualified applicant must be willing to work occasional weekends and 10-12 hour days, beginning early morning and working into the evening.
Compensation: $18.30 – $20.13 depending on education/experience.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Completed or pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an environmental field with at least two years of coursework related to wildlife biology, habitat restoration, aquatic ecosystems, or natural resources.
Experience Required:
- Pacific Northwest ecosystems, including flora and fauna ID preferred.
- Data collection, management, and analysis.
- Small to large mammal trapping and handling experience.
- Animal husbandry.
Prerequisites:
- WA State Driver’s License.
- Must pass a Tier III background investigation.
Terms of Employment: This is a Contracted position. Starting in May 2019 through November 2019 preferred. Some weekend work required, possible long days with early mornings and working late into the evening.
