As the GIS Database Analyst, you will be part of a team that plans, designs, modifies and maintains large, complex web-enabled applications, databases and reporting systems used to support innovations that improve the effectiveness of services to support our mission to Transform lives.

Some of what you’ll do

  • Design, develop, troubleshoot, maintain, and enhance several complex system databases that integrate geospatial and non-spatial data, with a focus for the Community Outcomes and Risk Evaluation Geographic Information System (CORE GIS).
  • Apply abstract conceptual design and advanced programing to create innovative information delivery solutions.
  • Coordinate and provided technical assistance to provide best practice data management and data analytic support.
  • Analyze and develop a comprehensive understanding of multiple data source system architectures in multiple platforms from throughout DSHS and other state and federal government agencies.
  • Provide advanced expertise on methods to identify high-need communities across the state for data analytics, program evaluation, and predictive modeling.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in geography, GIS, or a closely related field
  • Advanced expertise and experience as a GIS professional.
  • Progressively responsible programming, database administration, and analytic experience with large, complex databases.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and geographical analysis, design and implementation of a variety of geodatabases such as ArcGIS.
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills, especially in representing technical expertise to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and prioritize projects effectively
  • Ability to work well in a dynamic work environment
