OverviewThe City of Gresham is offering an exciting opportunity to join the Information and Innovation Department to fill a full-time GIS Analyst – I position. This position reports to the GIS and Analytics Manager and will support City goals and improve quality of life for Gresham residents by developing, adopting and promoting best practices in the use of spatial information and technology.

Position DescriptionThings you’ll get to do:

  • Perform specialized work in the operation and use of GIS tools

Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand their complex spatial and non-spatial data and analysis needs. Create a variety of information products including digital or paper maps, web maps, web apps and mobile tools using cartographic, visualization and information management processes and standards.

  • Define project requirements

Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, customers/vendors/end users, and technical staff. Analyze and communicate stakeholder needs by translating business requirements into technical needs.

  • Create and manage data, information and documentation

Create, update and maintain data and perform quality assurance processes to maintain integrity of data. Develop and maintain datasets including database design, modeling, metadata, and integration in response to staff requests. Create procedures and provide GIS software training for City personnel.

  • Provide technical support and administration of GIS, web and mobile tools

Perform enterprise database administration and ArcGIS Online administration. Assist in installing and testing new GIS software; assist in resolving and troubleshooting GIS-related problems and requests.

QualificationsWe are seeking someone who is collaborative and team oriented to work with a variety of stakeholders.  An ability to work independently and within a group with minimal direction is necessary.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong familiarity with technology and change, particularly ever-changing software solutions.
  • Strong familiarity with ArcGIS suite of products.
  • Experience with GIS projects.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate’s Degree and Certificate in GIS, geography, computer science, information systems, urban studies, Environmental studies, planning, cartography, or a related field with an emphasis on GIS  -AND-
  • Four or more years of progressively responsible experience

-OR-

  • Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, geography, computer science, information systems, urban studies, Environmental studies, planning, cartography, or a related field with an emphasis on GIS  -AND-
  • Three or more years of progressively responsible experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with designing infographics and reports including maps, charts, tables and narratives.
  • Experience in managing lifecycle of data and information in conformance with data standards.
  • Proficiency with analyzing trends in data using statistical methods and presenting the results to non-technical audience.
  • Experience in using variety of report building and analysis tools.
  • Exposure to programming in Arcade, Python, Javascript and HTML.
  • Experience with ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Esri Business Analyst, Insights for ArcGIS, Power BI, Office 365.
  • Experience with managing utility, planning and public safety GIS data.
