The Influence of the Confluence Event 2.0

June 9th, 2019 at Thornton Creek

A family event is for everyone who enjoys relaxing in parks and open spaces!

You are invited to celebrate our urban creeks at Meadowbrook Pond on Sunday, June 9th, 2pm to 6pm.  The pond is just across the street from Meadowbrook Community Center, 10517 35th Ave NE, Seattle, WA 98125, east of Nathan Hale High School with free parking at both the community center and high school.

Enjoy live music from the ThorNton Creek Band while you meet and chat with folks from all over town.  Stroll along the level walkway over Meadowbrook Pond. You’ll see ducks and other birds, and you might spot a beaver swimming across the pond. There are benches so you can relax and take in views of the wildlife. There will be food vendors, so you won’t go hungry!

Thornton Creek Alliance (TCA), your festival host, will be distributing Thornton Creek Passports that include a trail map showing where kids of all ages can find interesting activities and games.  Follow your passport trail map to see where the north and south branches of Thornton Creek come together…at the confluence!

Attend a guided tour of the stream restoration project.  Thanks to the efforts of the City of Seattle, this previously degraded section of Thornton Creek now functions as a natural stream with fish habitat.  Last October a pair of chinook salmon spawned in the project area—the first pair recorded in this reach since 1999. Dozens of native peamouth fish, a member of the minnow family, spawned in the same location as recently as late May.
