THE ROLE

Under general direction, provides technical support services to subsidiaries in the construction and operations of solid waste recycling, composting, disposal and processing facilities.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, AND ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Provides technical support services to subsidiaries in the construction and operations of solid waste recycling, composting, disposal and processing facilities.

Coordinates a wide variety of engineering work in either an office or field setting.

Assists with the project management of landfill, transfer station, collection, recycling and composting facility improvements.

Assists with the preparation of project budgets and tracks costs.

Coordinates and assists in scheduling, engineering, permitting, and construction activities.

Coordinates and assists with project management, construction projects, environmental systems monitoring and reporting on items such as groundwater, stormwater, and landfill gas.

Coordinates project activities with project managers for sites across the corporation.May assist a project manager on a new facility (collection, transfer, compost, recycling, disposal, etc.) development project.

Provides administrative, project coordination, permit, technical and regulatory support to the project team.

Coordinates and assists with Safety Managers to ensure safe working conditions are considered and maintained during project development, construction and operation

Coordinates and assists with Environmental Compliance Managers to ensure facility improvements and ongoing operations maintain compliance with existing regulations and that environmental protection is considered throughout the design and implementation of new projects

May assist in overseeing work performed by construction contractors, engineering and environmental consultants to ensure quality control and conformance with schedules and budgets.

May facilitate site to inform business activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree required

Three years related experience with construction and project management, environmental regulations related to air, water, solid waste, and material recovery/recycling.

Valid driver’s license.

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE – The qualifications listed are typical of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of successful employees within this classification.

 

Knowledge of:

California, Oregon, Washington and Nevada state and local project permitting and environmental regulations.

Continuous developments in area of expertise (project management, engineering or geological & geophysical acquisition), processing and interpretation techniques, regional knowledge and technical literature.

Project management strategies, tracking and monitoring.

Environmental due diligence, investigations and research.

Principles and practices of environmental investigations and regulations.

Computer programs, including GIS and Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.

 

Skill and / or Ability to:

Promote the WASTE ZERO philosophy by making the best and highest use of all resources as well as finding ways to use waste products in ways that benefit the environment.

Define issues and focus on achieving workable solutions; generate innovative ideas to develop or improve existing systems.
