Primary Purpose of the Position: The Senior Program Coordinator will build the effectiveness of our Northwest park work by assisting in implementing park protection campaigns and actively building NPCA’s ally and advocate base. The Senior Program Coordinator will assist in strengthening our influence by engaging and mobilizing individuals and organizations in our priority national park campaigns, under the strategic direction of the Regional Director. Examples of campaigns that the Coordinator will be involved in include the Hear Our Olympics campaign, grizzly restoration to the North Cascades, Crater Lake Wilderness expansion and park funding. Through community meetings, presentations, and regular communication with allies, the Coordinator will build active and engaged coalitions of national park advocates, including Congressional staff, community members, donors and other funders.
The Coordinator will also manage and implement the administrative functions of the Northwest Regional Office – and approximately five hours/week for the Alaska Regional Office. This position will coordinate actions, products, and strategies closely with the other NPCA staff (i.e., Development, Government Affairs, Communications, Finance etc.) in the national office, and will be expected to help with regional events and other related work. Internally, the Coordinator will participate in and demonstrate leadership on NPCA teams surrounding policy, programs, and outreach to develop park leaders in both the next generation and traditionally marginalized communities.
Essential Functions: % of Time
1.Work to implement national park campaigns developed and managed by the Regional Director. The Senior Coordinator will report to and work under the Regional Director, who will design campaigns goals and strategies, and direct the Coordinator to carry out functions in those campaigns related to ally building, engagement of local communities, and education of key audiences. The Senior Coordinator will assume responsibility for and be the primary point of contact on selected regional issues. 25%
2.Assist in building new supporters for NPCA and engage the next generation of park advocates. This effort includes conducting outreach and building partnerships with military veteran organizations, as well as organizations whose mission is to serve communities of color, low-income communities, LGBTQ communities, and other traditionally marginalized communities. 20%
3.Assist with plan and implementing volunteer and advocacy events and meetings, including Regional Council meetings, tours, hearings, assisting with donor events, etc. Activities include overseeing logistics, invitations, volunteer recruitment and involvement, follow-up etc. The Senior Coordinator will take the lead on outdoor restoration activities in parks, helping to plan outings and engage volunteers in parks.20%
4.Oversee and implement all administrative office functions in Alaska and the Northwest, including but not limited to:
-Coordinating creation of internal reports for Regional Operations and Finance
-Ensuring contracts are accurate, meet internal guidelines and receive necessary approval
-Ensuring proper coding and payment of bills and accounts
-Providing accurate monthly budget reconciliation
-Placing supply orders and interfacing with vendors Providing logistical support to the Northwest and Alaska Regional Directors, Development Director, and Program -Managers including scheduling.15%
5.Create and implement outreach tools including presentations, fact sheets, activist alerts, field reports, brochures, flyers, and other communication vehicles to educate elected officials, key leaders, NPCA members and donors, and members of the public. 10%
6.Maintain and expand databases of: volunteers and advocates, campaign metrics and deliverables, Regional Council members, political assets, and more. 5%
7. Assist Regional Development Director in cultivation of regional major donors, and coordinate closely with NPCA’s mid-level and major donor teams in identification and cultivation of donor prospects and current donors. Support a monthly systematic donor engagement program. 5%

Minimum Work Schedule: 37.5-hour work week. Flexible hours scheduled between 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Regular weekend work (approximately 10-15 weekends per year) is required for certain activities, dependent upon season. Compensatory time is earned for weekend work.
Travel: Regular regional travel required for meetings and events (for instance, NPS units in WA and OR, annual staff meeting in the DC area, or other meeting sites in the region).
Minimum Scope of Position: The Senior Administrative & Outreach Coordinator will ensure that the Northwest Regional Office operates smoothly, efficiently, and professionally. The Senior Coordinator will help create and maintain a goal driven, highly motivated, team environment where everyone’s efforts are ultimately trained on NPCA’s mission. The Senior Coordinator will ensure that the logistical, support and administrative functions of the Northwest Regional Office and its programs are executed on time with a focus on quality and accurateness. Senior Coordinator will help lead our local outdoor restoration activities in parks to help mobilize volunteers and contribute to our on-site conservation efforts. Senior Coordinator will also work with staff to help promote events, identify new opportunities, and perform outreach.
Minimum Qualifications, Competencies, Skills, Education, and Traits:
-Proven ability to manage time effectively, coordinate multiple projects, handle details, work effectively under pressure with minimum to moderate supervision, work well with volunteers, supporters, allies and the public.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively on a team, to manage and meet deadlines, and to produce high quality work is required.
-BS/BA preferred with at least two years of relevant experience.
-Must be comfortable working collaboratively on a daily basis as part of a closely-knit team of professional colleagues.
-Professional presentation and excellent writing and oral communications skills are essential.
-Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and effectively utilizing the internet is required.
