The Communications & Events Coordinator is primarily responsible for sharing our story through events, campaigns, and social media, and coordinating our annual auction and gala, Swank.
We are looking for someone who can:
•Work on multiple events and projects at once, including coordinating supplies, vendors, volunteers, and timelines, with a high level of attention to follow- through and details
•Enthusiastically share our story in a variety of ways
•Build and maintain relationships with vendors and nonprofit partners
•Adapt to change, work through set-backs and challenges, and creatively solve problems as they arise
•Be committed to carrying out our anti-racism strategic plan and continuing personal anti-racism journey
We are a small team that works together to make big projects happen. Everyone on the team is expected to build relationships within the organization and with our external partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Swank: Ensure Swank, our annual auction & gala, runs smoothly (45%)
●Implement event production timeline, including: tracking auction item donations, ticket sales, vendors, supplies, and volunteers
●Ensure all staff and board roles are clear and monitor progress with staff and board Swank Committee
●Lead on all event communications, including website, emails, and social media
Communications and Outreach: Implement our communications plan for events and programs (35%)
●Manage our communications calendar by directing staff to complete their communications tasks
●Collaborate with Program Team on participant recruitment, especially for Seattle Works Day and Team Works
●Purchase promotional materials for outreach
●Manage social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter)
●Track, attend and/or delegate other staff to attend outreach events
●Complete annual Gratitude Report
Events & Organization Support: Lead and support other events and projects (20%)
●Coordinate annual board fundraising campaign logistics and messaging
●Plan annual appreciation event for donors
●Build relationships with nonprofit partners through joining a local coalition that relates to your interests
●Support with donor data entry as needed
●Support with specific tasks in programs as needed, such as large-scale volunteer projects, The Bridge: Board Training, Full Impact: POC Meet-Up, and Seattle Works Day
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Knowledge, Experience, and Skills
•Understanding of systemic racism and commitment to anti-racism work
•Lived and/or professional experience that will help Seattle Works live our value of building a diverse and welcoming community
•Able to work on multiple projects at once with a high level of attention to follow- through and details
•Able to communicate clearly with staff members and feel comfortable delegating tasks to everyone in the organization for a specific project or event
•Able to build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff team, community & business partners, board members, volunteers, and program participants
•Able to problem solve and be comfortable with change
•Experience working with databases or willingness and ability to learn new technology
•Able to work both independently and with a group
•Enthusiasm for sharing our story in a variety of ways
•Open to working approximately 2 Saturdays throughout the year and some evenings as needed, with advance notice
•Proficient in English
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
•Experience in nonprofit sector
•Experience coordinating events
•Experience with nonprofit communications and outreach
•Experience with the following software and applications is a plus: o Facebook
o Instagram o Twitter o Salesforce
o Microsoft Office o Canva
o Adobe Illustrator and/or InDesign o Greater Giving

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The compensation is $24.04 per hour, which is equivalent to $50,000 per year when working 40 hours per week.
