The Pierce Conservation District specializes in technical assistance and education to help protect surrounding natural resources. In our Environmental Education program, we deliver lessons and field trips for students of all ages. The topics include salmon, water quality, native plants, soil, and others. The lessons are meant to be hands-on and engage students in the learning. We also coordinate special events such as the Children’s Water Festival and Envirothon. Additionally, we attend community events and school science nights to bring our information to the public. This position is contingent on funding. Applications will be reviewed in the order in which they are received with interviews taking place until placement is filled.
Member Duties : This position will primarily assist in developing and delivering educational programming to students across Pierce County. This includes delivering classroom lessons; leading activities and field trips; representing PCD at school networking events; developing educational program content; and assisting with large annual events. The member will coordinate our participation in Envirothon, a natural resources competition for high school students. This includes hosting workshops for students, registering teams, and assisting with the event planning.
