What you will do:
The Director of Environmental and Social Impact contributes to the development and then leads to the implementation of sustainability and community enrichment strategies for TCCA. The position’s responsibilities include executions throughout TCCA’s farms, manufacturing environment, corporate offices, and its co-manufacturers. It also partners with other corporate functions as either a project lead, a consultant or execution support on sustainability or community-focused efforts. It also executes TCCA’s external validation, award and audit programs.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and implement short and intermediate-term (0-5 years) Stewardship strategies for TCCA.
  • Direct the implementation of all sustainability and community activities to ensure increased delivery on the Stewardship Charter, organizational economics, enhanced reputation, and all other applicable business priorities.
  • Develop programs that drive the adoption of sustainability and community platforms by internal and external partners.
  • Provide support to and consult with other TCCA functions in the development of sustainability and community programs relevant and compelling to their stakeholders.
  • Manage and continuously improve systems and platforms that track and report on TCCA’s sustainability and community strategies.
  • Contribute to the development and lead the delivery of an annual Stewardship Report.
  • Provide support to and consult with the organization on the development of strategies to improve the sustainability and social impact of TCCA’s supply chain.
  • Lead the Stewardship function’s insights effort. Work with Customer Insights team and others to analyze data and build recommendations to maximize knowledge of current and future consumer and customer needs, product and brand awareness, price/value perceptions, consumer and customer trends.
  • Develop processes and delivery systems that result in continuous improvement of actual performance versus strategy. Identify issues that impact performance; resolve or refer issues for resolution as appropriate.
  • Build relationships with and empower our farmer-members to deliver on our Stewardship commitments and their aspirations for their farms.
  • Lead assigned function within established budgetary and manpower plans; establish goals, performance standards, and operating procedures for assigned functions. Participate in the creation of department staffing and capital budgets.
  • Coach and develop team members; hire, fire, assess, discipline, document performance, recommend salary and classification changes. Act as an advisor to subordinate managers or staff to help meet established schedules and/or resolve technical or operational problems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. MBA or equivalently relevant degree preferred.
  • Environmental and/or social impact certifications preferred.
  • Farm experience, especially Dairy Farm Experience, very highly preferred.
  • 7-10+ years progressive work-related experience in sustainability and social impact with demonstrated proficiency in program management, implementation leadership and results in delivery.
  • Knowledge of best-demonstrated practice thought leadership and current innovation trends in sustainability and social impact.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and influence a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills to provide information and influence the activities of various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with and demonstrated ability to contribute to positive outcomes from 3rd party certifications, audits, rankings and awards (e.g. DJSI, CDP, Ecovadis, among many others).
  • Demonstrated expertise in driving sustainability and social impact achievement in supply chains.

PREFERRED

  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, implementation and strategic planning process for sustainability, social impact and general business enterprise dynamics.
  • Demonstrated project management and execution experience in organizing, planning, and executing large-scale projects from conception through implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing program budgets and effectively allocating budget resources to maximize impact.
