The Student Association of the Division of Global Affairs at Rutgers University is extending the deadline for abstract submissions for the 2020 Annual Global Affairs Conference. The new deadline is Friday, February 7, 2020.

Our annual conference will be held on Friday, April 3, 2020 on the Rutgers-Newark campus. This year’s theme, “Global Politics in the Era of Climate Change,” aims to examine various aspects of global climate politics including the role of international agreements, civil society movements, indigenous communities, and state actors in addressing what can be argued is the existential challenge of our time.

This conference welcomes critical inquiry of environmental issues in the fields of security, political economy, and human rights, as well as intersections within these perspectives.

With its annual conference, the Student Association of Global Affairs seeks to provide a space for students and scholars to broaden this conversation. We invite abstracts for papers on the following and related topics in all aspects of global affairs:

  • Climate change and insecurity (e.g., food, water, land, health)

  • Social movements / activism

  • Indigenous communities and climate change

adaptation/resilience

  • Intergovernmental organizations and climate politics

  • Sustainable energy (carbon markets, solar, wind)

  • Resource depletion and access

  • Global environmental conflicts / climate change and conflict

This conference seeks to create an interdisciplinary conversation on these topics, and we welcome participants (graduate students and early career scholars) from multiple disciplines, including, but not limited to, Political Science and International Relations, Sociology, Anthropology, Geography, and Regional/Area Studies.

Again, the new submission deadline for abstracts is Friday, February 7, 2020. Please submit an anonymous abstract of up to 400 words (in PDF or Word document form) to saga.rutgers@gmail.com<mailto:saga.rutgers@gmail.com>. Please write your name and contact details in the email body and write “Paper Submission DGA Conference 2020” in the subject line.
