We are recruiting to fill one Natural Resource Scientist 4 (Section Manager) within the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, located at 1111 Washington St, Olympia  WA  98501.

This position will serve as the agency expert for the species or field of bear, cougar, wolf, Small Game and furbearer ecology, management, and research. Writes and edits management plans, guidelines, and scientific peer reviewed reports for the species above; prepares and gives presentations (2-5 per year) to the public, advisory councils, and the Fish and Wildlife Commission; provides presentations to executive management, agency staff and peers.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree with major study in wildlife science, wildlife management, or ecology; AND six years of professional work experience in the field of wildlife management and/or research.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in wildlife management or closely related field will substitute for one year of the required experience provided the field of major study was related to the species identified above.

A Ph.D. degree will substitute for two years of the required experience provided the field of major study was related to the species identified above.
