Located on the beautiful Key Peninsula in the South Puget Sound, YMCA Camp Colman is seeking Outdoor Environmental Education Instructors for their Fall 2020 season, from August 19th – November 8th. Camp Colman has over 110 acres of coastal forest and marine environment in the South Puget Sound. In addition to its diverse ecosystems, Colman offers a marine center and touch tank on its beachfront, boating in our saltwater lagoon, several challenge course elements, and an organic garden.
Camp Colman is seeking individuals who are excited about working outdoors with people from all backgrounds, especially youth. Instructors will facilitate environmental education programming for school groups during the week as well as facilitate recreational and educational programming on weekends for other family and youth programs. This position includes housing, a membership to the local YMCA, and use of camp amenities.
Responsibilities include teaching classes in forest ecology, marine science, earth science, outdoor living skills, and challenge education/teambuilding. Typical schedule for instructors is 5 days on, 2 days off as well as working 2 evenings per week on your days on. Instructors also assist with light cleaning, maintenance work, and other camp operations as needed.
