The Children’s Campaign Fund (CCF) is looking for a talented, experienced, and energetic leader to join our team as its first Executive Director. (.75 FTE) We are seeking someone with a passion for promoting the well-being of children, advancing equity and inclusion, and the political process.

Children’s Campaign Fund was founded in 1989, following the defeat of the Children’s Initiative which would have created a dedicated fund for children. For the past 30 years, CCF has been volunteer-led by advocates for children and youth from across the state. CCF has played a unique and impactful role in the state, including:
- Helping elect and support key leaders who have driven major policy changes on early learning, child welfare, child health, and youth homelessness.
- Raising awareness and visibility of children and youth issues to candidates and elected officials running for the legislature. In the last election cycle, CCF board members interviewed more than 100 candidates – increasing the commitment of key legislative leaders to champion children.
- Being instrumental in facilitating the creation of the new Department of Children, Youth, and Families.
- Engaging in significant legislative advocacy to advance early learning priorities and strengthen a broad legislative coalition supporting children’s issues.
In the most recent session, more than 60 legislators championed children and youth issues, putting CCF on the statewide map as an effective, non-partisan organization. Now, CCF is poised for growth and impact. The Executive Director will champion our mission, working with staff and an active and engaged 17-member board of directors.
Responsibilities
- Lead CCF’s advocacy work, including year-round outreach activities and legislative efforts during session.
- Actively engage, support, and guide the board in the candidate endorsement process.
- Serve as an active and visible spokesperson and representative of the organization with the media, partner organizations and coalitions.
- Play a key leadership role in advancing the organization’s goal to increase racial equity and inclusion, in partnership with the board, as part of the new strategic plan. This will include development of an equity statement.
- Oversee marketing and communications efforts including social media and the website.
- Strategize and partner with the CCF board of directors to develop and implement a fundraising and donor stewardship plan.
- Oversee operations of the organization, including supervising a part-time PAC Manager, financial management, and other duties.
- Work with the board and staff to shape and finalize the strategic plan and establish and implement work plans.
- Plan and execute CCF events in partnership with staff and the board.
- Ensure support for the organization’s volunteer leadership, including an engaged, informed, and effective Board of Directors.
This position will be based remotely and will require flexibility with work hours, with some evening and weekend hours for board and committee meetings, events, candidate interviews, community meetings, and responding to legislative session schedules. Travel includes meeting with legislators 1 – 2 days per week in Olympia during session, monthly board meetings in Seattle, and two or more fundraising events in the greater Puget Sound region.
Qualifications
- Passion and commitment to promoting the well-being of children, youth, and families, particularly children of color, and those who are underserved and have been historically marginalized. Knowledge of, or a strong desire to learn about, the needs of children and families across the state who are most impacted by structural inequities.
- A deep commitment to equity and social justice, and strong alignment with CCF’s values.
- Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships and work effectively and respectfully with politically, ideologically, culturally, and geographically diverse people and communities.
- Five years of experience in politics and advocacy, ideally working effectively with legislators and policy makers and skillfully navigating state governmental structures. Preference given to candidates with prior experience with the WA Legislature.
- Experience in nonprofit management, including working with a board of directors.
- Two years of experience in financial management, including budgeting and monitoring financials.
- Two years of experience in fundraising preferred, with a focus on individual donors.
- Experience managing staff and volunteers preferred.
- Ability to work independently, efficiently, accurately, and keep deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal skills for effective communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and G Suite, and social media platforms.
- Ability to authentically connect CCF’s mission and vision with one’s own personal experiences.
This position is a .75 FTE (exempt) and will work an average of 30 hours per week. Salary range is $55,000 – $65,000, depending on experience.
