The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is seeking qualified candidates for part-time, non-tenure track Adjunct Instructors to be part of a pool of candidates for the online M.S. and certificate programs. Acceptance into the pool does not guarantee an instructing appointment but ensures consideration for current and future opportunities based on the needs of the department.
Primary Position Function/Summary:
Each position will instruct a minimum of one course per teaching appointment with anticipated topics including but not limited to environmental policy, wildlife ecology and management, restoration ecology, environment and plant ecosystems, environmental consulting, aquatic ecology and management, forest biology, soil and water conservation, watershed hydrology, research methods, sustainable development, environmental psychology, and other related areas of study. All online courses are taught in synchronous or blended formats (currently employing Zoom for synchronous sessions).
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- 40% – Instruct synchronous classes and/or create asynchronous materials.
- 20% – Adapt a course syllabus from the provided master syllabus.
- 15% – Maintain communication with students
- 15% – Prepare for class
- 10% – Grade class assignments
Required/Preferred Education, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Education Required – Master’s degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences or related area.
Education Preferred – Ph.D. or similar
Experience Required – Relevant teaching experience at the college level.
Experience Preferred – Demonstrated experience teaching online at the graduate level.
