Responsibilities

As a Hydrologist within the Washington Water Science Center, some of your specific duties will include:

  • Utilize aquatic chemistry principals to explain or predict changes in water quality in response to natural and anthropogenic changes within watersheds, states or geographic regions using empirical or mechanistic tools.
  • Conceptualization and development of new scientific studies concerning water quality dynamics in surface waters. Serve as project leader of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Plan, direct and/or carry out complex water quality studies or significant components of large studies, that describe and interpret water quality conditions in order to define, analyze, forecast or describe both natural and human induced hydrologic changes.
  • Quantitative analysis of water quality and hydrologic data using empirical or mechanistic models to explain or predict historic or future conditions.
  • Participation in a team that conducts and reports on complex scientific studies concerning water quality conditions.
  • Write clear, timely, and authoritative interpretive technical articles and reports that document the objectives, scope, approach, results, and conclusions of water-resource investigations or selected elements of such investigations.
  • Operate a government vehicle as an incidental driver.
