This individual will work with an experienced team of engineers and scientists in developing digital tools to be used during fieldwork for collecting, visualizing, and managing field data.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

Is this the right position to help you achieve your professional goals? Some of the key responsibilities for the position include:

Designing, programming, testing, using, and supporting customized digital data collection and management applications for environmental site investigations and remediation;

Interacting with internal and external clients to support field applications, database management, and data visualization for environmental projects;

Conducting data post-processing, cleaning, and quality control of digital field data;

Creating, querying, and modifying Access and SQL databases of environmental data;

Interacting with and creating web APIs to provide environmental data to web developers;

Implementing and publishing statistical analyses of environmental data on the web;

Performing fieldwork such as soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling, drilling and contractor oversight, aquifer testing, geophysical investigations, and remediation system O&M;

Analyzing chemical data and contaminant fate & transport;

Evaluating and implementing groundwater and soil remedies;

Preparing maps, tables, and figures to visualize data; and

Preparing technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.

Training: This position requires OSHA health and safety (40-Hour HAZWOPER certified preferred), first aid, and CPR training and medical monitoring, paid for by the firm. We also offer professional development opportunities including in-house seminars, webinars, and mentoring, that allow our professionals to build the technical and business skills necessary to become successful consultants.

Fieldwork: Up to 50%

Overnight travel: Up to 25%

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

BS degree in geomatics, computer science, science, or engineering. [required]

At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following programing languages: Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, C#, R, or other equivalent languages. [required]

At least 1 year of technical training and experience performing fieldwork and collecting soil, surface water, and groundwater samples. [preferred]

Experience with one or more web development framework such as React, Angular, Vue, Django, Flask, ASP.NET Web API. [required]

Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Desktop, including the ability to automate processes using scripts (e.g. Python). [required]

Proficiency with Microsoft Access, including the ability to write complex queries and automate routine workflows (e.g. with VBA and SQL). [preferred]

Experience with dimensional modeling and visualization (e.g., gINT, EVS) including the process of converting, importing, and exporting the surfaces between programs. [preferred]

Use and understanding of GPS surveying for data collection. [preferred]

Understanding and use of Graphic Design software (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). [preferred]

Direct experience managing environmental, geologic, and geotechnical data collection. [preferred]

Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation processes. [preferred]

Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record for business travel. [required]

Vision and desire to lead a data management and visualization practice in the environmental consulting industry.

Patience and planning skills to work toward a data management and visualization practice.

Ability to talk to and engage clients in business development and willingness to learn new business development skills.
