Responsibilities

As a Fish Biologist, you will perform the following duties:

• Process biological samples, such as Alaskan fish otoliths, in the laboratory for the purpose of collection near infrared spectra and age determination.
• Organize and enter data generated from near infrared spectroscopy of otoliths into database and evaluate quality control and quality assurance using statistical techniques.
• Examine biological specimens employing a stereomicroscopy and image analysis software to document structures, patterns, and ages of fish otoliths.
• Contribute findings to research projects in publications and peer-reviewed journals, and participate in seminars and scientific meeting presentations.
