Help Tacoma Plan Its Climate Future

Tacoma needs to hear from diverse voices as the City plans for its climate future and Tacoma City Council considers approving a new Climate Justice Plan to be developed over the next year.

Environmental Justice Workgroup Leaders will participate in facilitated discussions about local social justice and environmental issues, and make recommendations about how the City of Tacoma should make investments and take action to address them. The Work Group will advise City staff on the overall tone, design, strategies, and actions detailed in the Plan, as well as write a unique section of the Plan that reflects the Work Group’s collective voice.

Engagement Overview

With your help, Tacoma can center the voices of frontline communities – those that are underrepresented, underserved, or made vulnerable, and expected to experience the first and worst consequences of climate change. The Climate Justice Plan will help guide City priorities, policy, and investments that work toward a just and sustainable future. We understand and value that people know best how to engage with their own communities, and encourage Ambassadors to engage with their communities in their own way.

By submitting this application, you may be eligible for a $1,000 stipend for participation between September 2020 – September 2021. Stipends are conditional based on completion of Environmental Justice Leaders.
