Volunteers in Parks, Priest Point Stewardship Project April 23, 10am – 1pm Join REI and the Olympia Park Stewardship Program for a service project at Priest Point Park. REI staff will work alongside local volunteers to pull invasive English Ivy and create “life savers” around trees to preserve beautiful local forests. Hiking with Kids Class June 14th

National Trails DayJune 4th and 5th
Olympia and Tacoma REI stores are teaming up with the Washington Trails Association for a weekend of big trail work. We’re headed up to the Glacier Basin Trail at Mount Rainier where volunteers will help to reroute and restore portions of this scenic trail that were damaged by floods. Learn from REI experts how to go on your first camping trip! Already a veteran camper? REI experts will also share camp set-up tips and tricks, cooking ideas, and information on the latest gear to keep you comfortable in the outdoors. This class will help you figure out where to go, what to bring, and how to have the most fun!
GPS Fundamentals (Outdoor School) June 22nd This class will lead you through both fun and practical applications of GPS navigation. Learn how to pinpoint your location, mark waypoints, plot courses and create routes. At the end of the class you’ll go outdoors with instructors for hands on experience.
