Troop Program Manager (DuPont)

Girl Scouts of Western Washington (www.GirlScoutsWW.org<http://www.GirlScoutsWW.org>) is currently seeking a volunteer management star to support the incredible volunteers that make Girl Scout troops possible in our South Pierce and Thurston county communities. This individual will have previous success working with and managing volunteers, preferably involving youth. While knowledge of Girl Scout programming is helpful it is by no means required. The Troop Program Manager will ensure that our volunteers in their assigned geographic area are adequately supported. They will oversee the implementation of quality programming as well as ensure growth and retention in that area. The Troop Program Manager works collaboratively with other Membership staff to ensure that girls that want to participate in Girl Scouts in a troop setting not only have that opportunity, but that they experience quality programming based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) as they become girls of courage, confidence and character.

Essential Functions:
Primary
Responsible for ensuring that girls participating in Troops within assigned geographic area experience quality program based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE). The program and quality should support the organization’s strategic plan and program initiatives and whenever possible link to National Program Portfolio, such as Journeys. Attain or exceed annual goals for area.
Directly supervise service units (e.g.: volunteer led support structure to troops). Provide guidance and support to service unit volunteers that lead coordinated programmatic events and activities for girls. Recruit key service unit volunteer positions, coach and mentor these volunteers, manage conflicts, and offer development opportunities to service units. Partner with Community Development to develop annual membership recruitment plans that includes girl growth and volunteer recruitment goal setting.
Direct the on-going development of the Girl Scout Leadership Experience programming to troops by creating and delivering program support materials, volunteer workshops that are focused on grade-level groupings, and informal learning opportunities for troop leaders that strengthen troop retention. Partner with service unit volunteers to support these efforts.
Responsible for timely girl and volunteer placement, including new troop formation using consistent processes in troops that provide programs based on the GSLE and Journeys that leads to annual girl growth and strengthening girl market share.
Support Bronze Awards for girls in troops; manage Money Earning applications; manage Troop Travel; and coordinate certificates of insurance, facility use agreements and other forms of risk management for assigned area.
Secondary
Support activities to establish community collaborations to promote the council’s commitment to reach every girl, everywhere by ensuring that membership plans reach out to and are accessible to all racial/ethnic groups, underserved and not served populations.
Support the growth and success of all Girl Scout opportunities for girls, including new program initiatives.
In addition to the above, perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent education and work experience
* Minimum one year experience successfully managing or supporting volunteers in direct or indirect program delivery
* Knowledge of youth development strongly preferred
* Previous supervisory experience preferred
* Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams
* Excellent customer service skills including both written and oral communication and proven ability to stay calm in challenging situations
* Previous work experience utilizing conflict resolution skills
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary to be able to work with individuals at all levels and backgrounds
* Demonstrated experience successfully working with a variety of racial and ethnic groups
* Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, take initiative, be detail oriented, and maintain confidentiality in a fast paced and challenging work environment
* Competent in working in a changing environment; flexible and adaptable, and skilled in dealing with ambiguity
* Fluency in Spanish preferred
* Availability to work varied hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
* Ability and willingness to work remotely or from a home office, on occasion
* Skilled in Outlook, Word and Excel, and familiarity with database management and reporting
* Knowledge of Girl Scout program helpful but not required
* Valid Washington State driver’s license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across widespread regional geography
* Must have and maintain a good driving record
* Satisfactory results from criminal background search
* Willingness to maintain membership in Girl Scouts
