Safety Coordinator/Wind Turbine Technician

NaturEner is seeking to immediately fill the Safety Coordinator/Wind Turbine Technician position for work year-round in Montana. This position is responsible for coordinating safety activities for three operating wind energy projects. The Safety Coordinator will plan safety meetings and relevant safety trainings, audit training programs for all other contractors or businesses working on the projects. He or she will enforce owner’s safety policies, rules and requirements for every person’s work on or at the facilities. It will also require staying up to date with OHSA, ANSI, wind energy best practices and state and local requirements.
Safety Coordinator Responsibilities
Ensure that all operating project are up to date with all federal, state and local regulation, rules and codes
Audit various safety programs and real work requirements for compliance
Investigate all near misses, incident and accident; Conduct root cause analysis for all three
Complete all required forms and documents for safety compliance
Manage and purchase the required safety gear as needed
Audit safety policies and procedures; keep up to date as needed
Complete safety meetings weekly for up to 100 personnel; conduct training for all safety policies as needed
Develop a robust safety training program for companies on location personnel
Report any and all safety issues related to the project
Identify potential safety problem areas with ongoing field or shop activities
Technician Responsibilities
Perform operation and maintenance work on wind turbine generators that includes preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and modifications. Perform diagnosis and repair to Wind Turbines as directed by the Site Supervisor. Prepare and maintain proper documentation to support the repairs, to include parts usage and time worked.
Troubleshoot, test, and repair all related wind turbine generator equipment
Perform detailed quality audits of maintenance and repairs on WTGs
Track hazardous maintained waste usage and storage for WTG maintenance
Service, adjust, investigate potential problems, identify damaged and or warn components
Complete all documents required to perform repairs and service to WTGs
Able to be on call for up to two weeks at a time
Able to work holidays if needed
Able to work extended hours as needed
Assist Site Supervisor and Lead Technician maintaining accurate parts inventories
Track part and consumable usage
Assist with inventory counts
Maintain inventory of tools, consumables, and parts used
Ensure safety and health requirements and cleanliness of facility and tools or equipment
Help create a team building environment
Work closely with fellow employees, managers, and supervisors
Be able to lend a hand when needed and teach fellow employees best practices
Be able to study all material related to repairing trouble shooting and servicing WTG’s
Communicate openly about project information with managers, supervisors, and fellow technicians
Communicate problems with equipment
Communicate better and more efficient ways to solve problems, trouble shoot, and repair WTG’s
Travel as required
Able to travel to other company offices or location for training
Conduct safety training for all operating projects
Travel to other company locations perform service and repairs to WTG’s for up to 30 days
Travel for safety convention and state offices when needed
Perform such other duties as may be required from time to time by the company
Example: clean roads, turbine pads, parking areas, and storage yards
Perform any work required to maintain the company’s equipment (i.e., tools, trucks, facilities)
Clean and repair shop and shop equipment as needed
Complete any ad hoc tasks as needed or as requested
Keep a clean work environment
Education and/or Experience
Minimum education requirement is high school completion
2+ years safety experience AND 2+ years wind technician experience
Required certification in rescue, first aid and CPR
