Are you a strong leader that can manage a team of seasoned professionals who influence statewide clean air and climate change laws?

The Department of Ecology is looking for an experienced policy strategist, effective manager and environmental professional to join our Air Quality program management team as the Policy and Planning Section Manager.

Our mission is to protect, preserve and enhance Washington’s environment for current and future generations. We invest in our employees to create a work environment that encourages creative leadership, effective resource management, teamwork, professionalism and accountability. Maybe you’ve seen some of our recent stories on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or our blog.

The successful candidate will play an important role within a leadership team in how our state, region and nation respond to air quality issues including climate change. If your career has focused on protecting, preserving and enhancing the environment or public health, this may be the position for you.

The Air Quality program management team members are strategic thinkers. We influence state and federal clean air law and major policies by developing plans and interagency agreements on air quality issues with state and national significance.

The Policy and Planning Section Manager leads the development of Air Quality program plans and strategies to respond to high-profile, technically complex environmental issues. We work in a fast paced, politically-sensitive environment while balancing competing public demands.

High profile issues routinely involve coordination with the agency director, business and environmental leaders, the governor’s office and the legislature.
