This Saturday is going to be packed with shellfish activities at the farm, with our annual Oyster Garden Workshop between 10:00am-12:00pm and our monthly work party from 12:00pm-2:00pm.
The free gardening workshop will cover the basics of growing oysters and clams small scale on your own tideland over coffee donated by Starbucks. We will go over topics such as sourcing your seed, determining tidal elevation, best growing method for different ground types, monthly and annual maintenance required, and most importantly safe bountiful harvest.
After the workshop is our monthly work party, we will be working on the tideland pruning oyster seed, doing final plot cleanup, and grilling some Hendersons on the mesquite. We have some boots and gloves to lend out, but if you have your own it is recommended you bring them as well as rain gear or clothes you don’t mind getting muddy.
Weather should clear up by Saturday cross your fingers, but either way we will be there rain or shine, hope to see you at the Farm! Don’t hesitate to email or call for any questions.
