Position Description
We are looking for a Community Education Intern to join the Victory Garden Project (VGP) team for the winter and spring quarters of 2016. The Community Education Intern works with the VGP team to design, coordinate and implement our Community Workshop series, and update and develop published community education materials. The position supports and coordinates the community volunteers who teach our workshops. The Community Education Intern will also edit and redesign our Growing Guide booklet that provides information on food justice & equity and planning and growing a garden in the Northwest. This position requires a minimum commitment of 10 hours/ week.
Educational Component
Hands-on experience in community outreach, volunteer coordination, event and workshop planning, project documentation and evaluation.
Time Commitment
Winter and Spring Quarters (this internship may be a one or two quarter contract)
Minimum 10 hours per week
Qualifications
- Dependable and timely
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Enthusiastic about working with people from diverse backgrounds
- Some knowledge of organic gardening
- Excited about community education
