This recruitment is to fill one (1) full-time permanent position located within the Licensing unit, located at the Washington State Natural Resources Building in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington.
JOB SUMMARY
The mission of the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Licensing Division is to provide quality services and be an active partner with businesses, communities, and the public participating in or inquiring about commercial and recreational fishing, hunting, and wildlife viewing opportunities in Washington State.

The department relies on license sales for nearly one third of its budget. Sales of $50 million/year are transacted through 700 dealers in Washington, Idaho and Oregon, internet and phone sales with over one million customers. The licensing division administers all sales and sales related activities, revenue accounting, customer relations 24/7 customer call centers, business and point of sale systems, tier 1 technical dealer support, dealer retention and recruitment, point of sale training and dealer contract administration and sales collections.

 Duties:
Multimedia & Graphic Design:
  • Leverages knowledge of marketing and sales strategies to develop impactful POS displays and materials.
  • Produces graphics communications and marketing materials.
  • Works with external resources/vendors in support of marketing projects and deliverables.
  • Develops visually appealing presentations for a variety of audiences.
  • Conceptualizes, designs and produces graphic projects such as publications, logos, advertisements, Social Media graphics maps, Internet materials, drawings, displays, slideshows, and other illustrative materials.
  • Consults with managers and staff on graphic projects, programs and events involving aggressive marketing, high visibility, large distribution, and budget factors.
  • Conceives, designs, edits, and produces agency-wide informational materials, taking into account intended use, audience, budget and the project’s and department’s goals and objectives.
  • Produces complex, computer-generated multi-page photomechanical art or separations for black and white, and color reproduction, using graphic design software for page layout, illustration, and photo manipulation (not word processing software).
  • Accomplishes typographic compositions, conversions and manipulations of photographs and illustrations, using a variety of reprographic techniques, computer software, and materials.
Sales and Marketing Analysis:
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates advertising, merchandising, and trade promotion programs.
  • Conducts data analysis, identifies trends, and product gaps in support of new product development or service enhancements development that improve customer satisfaction and sales potential.
  • Prepares professional presentations to dealers, civic; and community organizations using sophisticated sales and marketing data.
  • Periodically conducts information-only presentations, such as seminars, trade show demonstrations, and other efforts.
  • Conducts, research, and analyzes data to identify program needs and participant eligibility for continued program participation.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working environment is a busy office setting. Varying degrees of activity occur in the common areas during working hours; most tasks will involve sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Incumbent must be able to work amid distraction. This position normally works 8:00 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. Occasional weekend and evening work required.

 Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
  • An Associate’s Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Advertising, or Communication.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Adobe Suite, and an understanding of search criteria for Internet and Intranet web sites.
  • Demonstrated experience and competency in Methods and techniques of graphic design and printing; Computer graphic equipment and peripherals.
  • Effective application of materials and media.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • Two (2) years of marketing experience which includes promotions, e-marketing, and in store product placement.
  • Experience in outdoor industries or natural resource management.
