The Lead Economist is an integral part of the Office of Budget & Economics. The position is a key advisor to the Budget Director in making decisions regarding agency spending and Trust distributions. The Lead Economist has a primary responsibility for defining, developing, and implementing policy and guidelines for the Economics unit to meet DNR’s strategic plan. The position is responsible for tracking and forecasting DNR’s many revenue-producing activities and is crucial to the department’s ability to maximize revenues to the Trusts. The Lead Economist is responsible for directing preparation of DNR’s quarterly Economic and Revenue Forecast, the annual statewide Timber Harvest Report, the biennial Washington Mill Survey, and other economic analyses and studies requested by executive management and DNR programs. The position supervises an Economist and an Economic Analyst.
