Where Next?
GIS continues to evolve. It is playing an increasingly large role in the digital transformation of society. Clearly, the advances in GIS are helping users do their work better but they are also helping organizations understand and communicate in whole new ways. They are helping break down organizational barriers and facilitate new forms of collaboration around shared geographic information. Today, there are outstanding implementation examples across dozens of domains around the world, where the new web GIS pattern is growing rapidly and making a difference across organizations.
With constant advances in data collection, tools, devices, software, and integration, it is important for GIS analysts, GIS managers and GIS users to look toward the future. How will GIS leverage IoT (Internet of things), Real-Time ‘everything’, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and the increasingly distributed nature of computing.

NWGIS 2018 Bremerton: Call for Presentations
Participate in the 33rd Annual Northwest GIS User Group Conference in Bremerton, Washington by sharing a poster, giving a presentation or showcasing an application. Presentations typically consist of a 20 – 25 min talk, but if you don’t want to give a full-length presentation, consider a 5 minute lightning talk instead.
Do you have an application or poster that you want to share? The annual map (including story maps) and app contest is a great way to show off your work and to make contacts with attendees who have similar interests. The event will follow a traditional format with participants displaying a map or poster in the gallery for attendees to view and an online approach of allowing folks with web, mobile apps and story maps to show off their work.

Registration for the conference as well as the Pre and Post Conference workshops is now open!
Join us at the 2018 Northwest GIS Users conference, October 29 – November 1, 2018 in Bremerton, WA at the Kitsap Conference Center. The 2018 Bremerton Conference will feature Esri President, Jack Dangermond as our keynote speaker. We will also have training workshop opportunities, presentations, the Esri Hands on Learning lab, a vendor hall and a Map Gallery.

2018 NWGIS Conference: Jack Dangermond Esri President will keynote
The NWGIS Board of Directors and the 2018 NWGIS Conference Committee are excited to announce that Jack Dangermond will keynote at the 2018 NWGIS Conference in Bremerton.
Dangermond is recognized not only as a pioneer in spatial analysis methods but also as one of the most influential people in GIS. He actively manages Esri and is closely connected to projects, clients, and company vision. He takes a leadership role in national and global initiatives to facilitate standards for data access and sharing across agencies and organizations. He is personally committed to applying GIS methods for environmental stewardship and sustainable communities.
