Third Annual Green Professionals Conference Offers Many Free Career Building Opportunities for Students

On January 26, 2011 the third annual Green Professionals Conference will launch, offering many career building opportunities for students and job seekers.  The conference features four speaker tracks focusing on energy efficiency, renewable resources, sustainability, and green jobs.  Topics cover everything from tips for finding green jobs and the value of networking to sustainable transportation and emerging renewables industries, and are a great way for students to learn more about emerging issues in the green jobs industry.

In addition to the speaker sessions, the conference is offering a valuable resource through the career services booth.  Pam Moore of Compass Human Resources along with three additional human resource professionals will be available throughout the day to answer questions and offer guidance to all attendees.  These professionals are also offering resume review, help with cover letters, interview tips, and advice on leveraging skills to break into the green jobs industry.  Attendees are encouraged to bring a copy of their resume to this booth.

The Exhibit Hall will play host to exhibits from many different companies, schools, and organizations from around Oregon, including Fluid Market Strategies, Adidas, Bonneville Power Administration, Conservation Services Group, The Evergreen State College, Future of Energy, International Society of Sustainability Professionals, Marylhurst University, Peace Corps, Portland Business Journal, University of Oregon Sustainability Leadership Program, Willamette University MBA program, and many more.  Students are encouraged to come meet representatives from these groups and learn about jobs, career enhancement opportunities, and ways to get involved in the community of green business.

More than just a job fair, the Green Professionals Conference also provides a means for students and job seekers to learn more about the industry and connect directly with companies and organizations that have open positions.  At the end of the day there will be a networking reception held in the exhibit hall, open to all attendees.

Students are encouraged to go to www.green-professional.com to learn more about the conference offerings and to register.  While there is a free registration option for partial access to the conference, we are also offering student discount rates as well as an additional group discount for students.  Contact Renee Yama for more information on student discount opportunities.
