Budget Analyst 3 In-Training

DutiesThis position serves as support for the program lead budget analysts for the WDFW Fish Program and provides detailed budget analysis to lead senior management and staff in planning, developing, implementing and tracking allotments from multiple fund sources. Provides consultative budget and financial services to management and staff in the development and monitoring of budget proposals, spending plans and contracts. Provides training and assistance to program staff on the use of agency financial systems such as Novatus, CAPS Financial, CAPS Pivot Tables, Payroll Cost Reporting and Enterprise Reporting.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
- A valid U.S. Driver’s License
Budget Analyst 1
- Three to four years of professional experience in budgets, management, or program analysis.
Budget Analyst 2
- Four to five years of professional experience in budgets, management, or program analysis.
Please Note: A Master’s Degree may substitute for some experience.
Budget Analyst 3
- Five to six years of professional experience in budgets, management, or program analysis.
Please Note: A Master’s Degree may substitute for some experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, or statistics
- Knowledge of the Washington State Budget process
- Customer Service or relevant experience
Salary Range:
Budget Analyst 1: $3,346 – $4,378
Budget Analyst 2: $3,871 – $5,077
Budget Analyst 3: $4,270 – $5,604
Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:
Assigned duty station is in Olympia. Work is performed almost exclusively in a fast-paced office environment. This position is full time, working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Able to work a flexible schedule upon supervisor’s approval. Workweek may occasionally be altered by supervisor to accommodate workload periods while maintaining a 40-hour workweek. Limited, but some travel to WDFW Regional offices and locations may be required. Occasional overnight travel may be necessary. Requires frequent contact with customers, who are primarily internal Program contract and budget managers, via phone, email and in person.
