IT Customer Support
We are recruiting to fill one (1) full-time, permanent IT Customer Support position within the IT Services Division. This position is located at the Natural Resources Building in Olympia, WA.

DutiesThis position is an IT Support Specialist for the End User Services Unit (EUS) Desktop Support team.  An IT Support Specialist provides tier 2 expertise and is responsible for the following in Olympia headquarters, Region 6 Regional HQ and remote facilities throughout Region 6.

Specific Tasks Include:

  • Works independently utilizing standard troubleshooting methodologies to discern suitable and effective solutions to resolve all but the most complex problems.
  • Professional working knowledge of principles, concepts and methodology required for configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of computers, agency unique specialized hardware, and over 550 software applications
  • The IT support specialist is skilled in researching solutions to unique issues and situations
  • Install, configure and troubleshoot network hardware and software, including WAN devices, VPN software, and TCP/IP connectivity
  • Train agency staff on how to use software and hardware, and safe computing best practices
  • Provides operational level expertise on the implications and impact of changes to processes, policies and procedures in the computing environment.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience in PC hardware/software support.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience troubleshooting connectivity issues in a networked environment.
  • Two (2) or more years of professional experience working with other teams and customers solving incidents and problems in a technical environment
  • Prior experience providing remote PC technical assistance.
  • Undergo a background check which will include fingerprinting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four (4) or more years of recent information technology experience such as consulting, analyzing, designing, programming, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware or network infrastructure equipment, providing technical support in information technology.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience working in an ITIL/ITSM environment in a helpdesk and/or workstation support role.

Supplemental InformationWorking Conditions:
Work Setting, including hazards: Duties are performed in an office setting. This position requires extensive computer use and sitting.

Schedule (i.e., hours and days): Mon – Fri, 8-5, Schedule may be adjusted with supervisory approval

Travel Requirements: This position will require some travel to remote office and regional locations and overnight stays may be required.  Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Customer Relations: As requested or directed to ensure strategic plans around desktop support functions.

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the State of Washington, Department of Fish and Wildlife and the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE).
