Title: Greater South Sound VISTA Leader
Position: Full-time, 1-year term of service
Reports to: Greater South Sound VISTA Program Manager
Benefits: Stipend, End-of-Service Award ($6,195 Education Award or $3,000 cash stipend), health coverage, childcare assistance (if eligible), loan forbearance and interest accrual payment or deferment on qualified student loans, relocation assistance, vacation/medial leave, training, non-competitive eligibility (NCE) status for one year upon completion

Summary:
The Greater South Sound VISTA Leader will enhance the success and sustainability of the Greater South Sound VISTA program by providing technical and professional support to our 20 VISTA members to ensure a positive VISTA team experience. The VISTA Leader supports our members and their host sites during their year of service by facilitating team-building activities and team meetings, developing professional development trainings, and coordinating service projects. Our VISTA Leader engages VISTA members and provides ongoing support and mentoring to enable members to successfully complete and enjoy their term of service. The VISTA Leader will also build capacity for UWTC’s VISTA program by enhancing the program’s recruitment strategies, improving host site training practices, increasing the team’s presence on social media, and promoting VISTA impact to stakeholders. Finally, the VISTA Leader will create and implement strategies to engage VISTAs as a critical part of United Way of Thurston County’s mission to mobilize the caring power of the community to fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community.

Requirements:
VISTA Leaders must have served in VISTA, AmeriCorps State/National/NCCC, or Peace Corps.
