The Chehalis Basin Education Consortium is a watershed education program for the Chehalis Watershed.  We perform water quality testing throughout the Chehalis Watershed with 4th-8th grade students and provide other environmental education programing.
The CBEC is looking for volunteers for our 11th Annual Chehalis Basin Student Congress.  This event takes place on Thursday March 29th from 8:30 am- 2:30 pm at Centralia Community College.  Join fellow MES students in volunteering all day or for a few hours by helping with a variety of jobs, however volunteers need not volunteer for the whole day.  You can volunteer for just a few hours in the morning or afternoon.  We especially need volunteers to lead State Of The River Sessions in which students from throughout the watershed come together to discuss their water quality data.  If you are available and interested in volunteering please contact MES First Year student Kim Jones at kjones@esd113.org or (360)464-6781.  Transportation may be available.
The CBEC is also looking for volunteers to help judge poetry for our annual Washington River of Words Art and Poetry Contest.  The main judging will take place at ESD 113 in Tumwater, WA on Friday March 30th from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, but if you are interested in judging and can’t attend that day there may be other times you can assist with judging.  We are looking for nature lovers and poets to judge these poems written by elementary through high school students from throughout Washington.  If you are available to help judge please contact CBEC Coordinator Kathy Jacobson at kjacobson@esd113.org or (360)464-6722.
