*Job Description:

This is a chance to gain experience in community outreach and event organizing. You will be helping to plane Benefit(s) for the Non-Profit and NGO Mangrove Action Project, an organization dedicated to environmental conservation and cultural conservation through research management.

I am looking for a few volunteers to help me connect to Olympia and Seattle communities and plane an event at the Seattle Center. It is my intent to bring together concepts of community, art, entertainment, education, and environmental and cultural conservation, and manifest a gala – Mangala. This event will be a culmination of local and adjacent artists in the Northwest area. We will provide multiple stages for bands and performing artists, these will include folk artists, folk punk, indie alternative rock, and maybe some spoken word. As for performance artist we will provide fire dancers, belly dancers, and potentially other acts. As for the educational outlets, we will work towards having multiple booths set up with information on local non profits and environmental agencies, as well as student groups with personal and pertinent work to share with the public. If possible, I would like to invite entrepreneurs to come out and set up booths of their own to sell their homemade crafts jewelry and food. In compatibility with this, some keynote speakers will be presenting speeches. Mangrove will work to provide an environmental theme such as “the ocean” and try and present this theme in multiple avenues.

I am hoping to cover topics of environmental conservation, projects in the Puget sound and northwest cost, cultural resource management for indigenous people and visions of sustainable socioeconomic practices. Mangrove Action Projects will provide speeches regarding what they do and how they have made a difference in this world.

this will be a great opportunity to make connections, learn how to inspire people, bring people together, educate the public and celebrate.
