You are invited to attend and offer comments during each of the Commission’s preliminary deliberation meetings on the July Draft of the Comprehensive Plan.
What’s New? Following up from their July Public Hearings, the Planning Commission has identified five areas on which to focus their deliberations. During these preliminary deliberations, the Commission will discuss their potential recommendations to the City Council. You can read the July draft, review major changes, and see public comments received thus far at imagineolympia.com.
- What if I already commented? Comments that have already been received are part of the record and will be considered by the Commission during their discussions. You are welcome to comment again at this series of meetings.
The Commission is interested in hearing comments during their preliminary discussions on the topics listed below, but you may also comment on any aspect of the July Draft.
- September 17 – Foundations: A discussion of issues such as the process for review of the Comprehensive Plan, the Plan’s alignment with other planning processes, population and anticipated growth, and the local economy.
- September 24 – Environment: A discussion of how the Draft Plan addresses issues such as Low-Impact Development, urban forestry, sustainability, climate change and other related items.
- October 1- Neighborhood: A discussion of sub-area planning, and other related neighborhood topics.
- October 8 – Downtown Planning: A discussion of views and building heights, whether to create a Downtown Master Plan, design requirements and form-based codes, and other topics specific to downtown.
- October 15 – Mobility and Land Use: A discussion of urban corridors, street connectivity and multi-modal transportation, among other related topics.
Come share your thoughts: Each meeting will include two half-hour periods for public comment, with a limit of three minutes per speaker.
