Is your garden in bloom and abuzz with hummingbirds, despite our
late-summer drought? *It can be!*

Our annual Water-wise Plant Sale is a perfect opportunity to add more
drought-tolerant color & native habitat to your landscape!

*Water-wise Plant Sale Sunday, September 30, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*
Native Plant Salvage Foundation/Project’s annual water-wise fall plant sale
is just 10 days away and will feature *horticulture experts* offering
one-on-one advice about the best plants for your landscape to save water,
attract birds and butterflies, and reduce maintenance.

*Thousands* of hard-to-find native and drought-tolerant shrubs, perennials,
grasses, vines, and groundcovers will be offered! The event takes place
rain or shine at the WSU Extension/County Parks offices at 4131 Mud Bay Rd.
W. (formerly McLane Fire Station). Call 360-867-2166 or see
www.nativeplantsalvage.org for more details and directions.

We have an expanded selection of *native plants,* with *hard-to-find
plants*from specialty nurseries such as Steamboat Island Nursery &
Fairmeadow
Nursery, as well as our favorite native-plants nursery, Sound Native
Plants. Drought-tolerant specialties will come from Evergreen Valley, The
Plant Place, and Puget Sound Plants, and regional nurseries from Oregon and
the Seattle area. You’d be hard-pressed to find a collection of native and
water-wise plants this splendid anywhere else!

*New Feature!* *Designer Linda Andrews* will offer free mini-consultations
during the sale by advanced appointment! Bring photos and info about your
yard and she’ll customize a plant palette perfect for you! Contact us now
for a first-come, first-served appointment at 867-2166.

*Special Rain Garden Section Featuring Stormwater Stewards!*
Stormwater Stewards will help you choose the right plants for your existing
or planned rain garden. You can even schedule a visit for a site assessment
in your landscape with trained Stewards!

*Publicity Help needed!*
Can you please help us get the word out? Please share the news with your
friends! An email to your gardening friends is the best publicity we can
hope for! Here’s a link to our web site, with all the details:
www.nativeplantsalvage.org

You can print out the flier on the website to hang in your favorite
hangouts, and if you have a *Facebook* page, you can help spread the word
that way, too: http://www.facebook.com/events/398565356877895/ Thanks!

*Volunteer Help needed!*
Volunteering for the plant sale is not only a fun time with fellow plant
lovers, but you get early access to the plants, and special deals (plus a
whole table of *free plants* just for volunteers)! If you want to help
either in advance of the sale, or on that day, please contact Erica at
erica@nativeplantsalvage.org. *We’re seeking volunteers for these times:*

* Thursday, September 27, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Friday, September 28, 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
* Saturday, September 29, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
* Sunday, September 30, shifts throughout the day, but especially during
the sale itself.

Volunteer shifts can be of any length that’s *convenient for you,* so you
can both help and play!

The sale is one of our primary fundraising activities to support our
AmeriCorps members’ work providing outreach and education in schools and
the broader community about protecting water resources & habitat. The sale
also supports the infrastructure of our plant salvage and revegetation
operations, including tools, soil, and volunteers’ supplies.

To sign up or learn more, email Erica at erica@nativeplantsalvage.org.
